Reds Push Nazis Back On Long Slovakian Front
The Red Army pushed Germans back on a 125 mile Slovakian front near Kassa and Rimaszombat, taking 13 towns in the Rimaszombat area. Soviet forces closed on the Torysa river fortifications and advanced toward Lasonoc, threatening to cut routes to Bratislava and Vienna as German reserves and air units were deployed.
