Belle Grove in Middletown opens its doors for an 18th century yuletide celebration. Staff member Frank Lee says decorations stay traditional and simple while docents provide input for a fresh yearly approach.
Belle Grove hosts nightly candlelit tours with 18th century carols and a large 15 foot cedar tree. Docents emphasize simple colonial decorations using natural materials while visitors enjoy hot tea and cookies and a popular year round gift shop expanded for Christmas. The mansion lies one mile south of Middletown on Route 11.
Several winter quarter courses debut at Lord Fairfax Community College offering undergraduate credit or audit options. Workshops include A Feminine Approach to Basic Auto Repair, License Preparation for surveyors, Home Heating Alternatives, Water Distribution Systems, Calligraphy, Rural Land Investments, and a Personal Stress Management seminar with weekly evening sessions.
