After 45 Years Oscar Finds New Beverly Hills Home
Beverly Hills, Calif. Oscar will move to a new headquarters on Wilshire Boulevard in autumn 1974 with a 1,100 seat theater and 200 seat projection room. Walter Mirisch, Academy president, says the site will provide a hub for film people to view, discuss, and exchange ideas. The project is funded largely by the annual million dollar Oscar telecast income. The Academy, founded in 1927, now numbers about 3,000 members and runs a library, casting directory, scholarships, and film retrospectives.
