Citizens brace for a cold wave as the Washington weather bureau predicts a drop to a few degrees above zero in western Virginia tonight and tomorrow morning. The cold spell, arriving after several days of gradual cooling, could freeze water pipes and trigger extra stove and wood usage.

In Moorefield West Virginia Samuel Wilkins died after being thrown from a horse while sawing wood. A collie barked to summon his daughter who arrived at the scene just as he died. Skull fracture and leg injury reported. Inquest not deemed necessary by Dr. Brooks and Magistrate Paskel.
The will of Samuel Gompers filed for probate leaves most of his estate to his sons and granddaughters with the widow Gertrude A. Gompers receiving only the minimum allowed by law. Howard county authorities sought the whereabouts of a man said killed near Daisy Maryland when a whiskey laden machine struck a culvert and plunged down an embankment. Eugene Simpson reported witnessing the crash and helping remove the driver’s body from the wreckage as two following cars and Simpson lifted the vehicle.

Miss Frances Warden of Wardens Ville was in town today. Mr Stasey Rinkle of Indiana, guest at Hotel Jack, returns home for holidays. Mr Rinkle is frequent visitor in town and has many friends here. Mrs Shutz of Clearbrook was siithees in town today.
Miss Opal Robinson, president, hosts dinner for the council at Tokus’ as the Girls’ Athletic Association advances its holiday program. A tea for twenty five was held at the club room, and carol singing is planned for Christmas Eve. New Year’s dance at the George Washington Hotel features Verzi’s Orchestra, with a promising GA A basketball season underway.
