The Creager twins Roger and Karen, seven, both lost a front tooth on the same day with Karen later losing another front tooth and Roger two bottom teeth. The children attend Quarles School second grade. Bill Ashworth felt slighted by the Virginia football honor list omission but is now singled out in this paper. A Firestone Store crew lowered a tanker truck stuck in a garage by jacking up its front, then released it safely.
Katanga leader Moise Tshombe and Congo Premier Cyrille Adoula meet for unity talks as U.N. enforces a cease fire in Katanga. U Thant orders a halt to fighting during talks while the capital Elisabethville remains under U.N. control and guerrilla resistance lingers in the countryside.
A bake sale hosted by the E U B Youth Fellowship announces pre Christmas specials. Items include snow suits car coats legging sets and the stork set with prices listed. The event proceeds in front of Macy’s on December 20.
President Kennedy returns from a Latin American trip with a lingering cold. Poor weather in Washington forces an unusual landing at National Airport with the Air Force jet, then a drive to the White House as visibility drops to 300 feet. Kennedy says he feels fine after landing.
A Defense Department spokesman declined to comment on a Washington Star report that the Kennedy administration shifted to a plan intended to spare Soviet cities in a nuclear war. The aim is to deter Soviet leaders by avoiding mass civilian casualties.
The Frederick County School Board will hold a special session this week on land west of Fox Drive for the planned junior high school. The Board will decide how much land to purchase, with up to 30 acres authorized between Rt. 50 and Rt. 522 for the county’s first high school.
India announced complete victory in its blitz of Portugal’s Goa Damao and Diu on the western coast. Defense Ministry cited over 1,000 Portuguese troops surrendering and asserted light casualties for India, with Nova Goa raised to Indian flag about 9 am.
Police report a 16 year old Negro boy, John Henry Roberts of 517 North Kent Street, was wounded in the right ankle by an accidental shooting in woods behind the Labor Camp. He was taken to the hospital by Rescue Squad. A 17 year old admitted to accidentally firing the weapon. Further details pending.
President Sukarno ordered total mobilization and warned he could launch an invasion of West New Guinea at any time. He denounced Dutch plans for a self rule path, pledging to liberate Irian and hoist the Indonesian flag in West Irian.

Officers include Charles Bachman vice president Jack Shiley secretary and Kenneth Lewis treasurer. Plans cover central dispatch duty over Christmas and summer yard parties for Gainesboro Clearbrook Round Hill Shawnee Gore and Middletown.
At United Nations, a Soviet veto blocked a Western call for withdrawal of Indian troops from Goa and other Portuguese territories. Adlai Stevenson condemned the veto as a threat to the UN, while Valerian Zorin praised blocking “colonialism” and Britain warned Congo could force reconsideration of UN support.
