Virginia digout continues as the Weather Bureau warns of more snow and cold. The State Highway Department reports 6 to 8 inches statewide with roads iced and sleet covered. Chains urged for travel. bus service disrupted and school closures extended in Danville and Pittsylvania.
Winchester and Frederick County residents dream of a white Christmas as four inches of snow fell since yesterday afternoon and gradually began to end today. Roads see light traffic with plows pressed into service around 3 a.m. State roads remain slick on secondary routes but buses are back on schedule by noon after two cancellations. Temperature around noon reached 22 degrees and officials urged careful driving as crews treat main highways.
