Quentin Shrader 24 was shot by Walter L. Kupp 52 while Shrader robbed Kupp’s home at 713 North Locust street. Shrader, unarmed, was found semi conscious near railroad tracks and hospitalized with wounds through the body. Police recovered rings and pearls stolen, plus 18 cartridge rounds. Kupp, foreman at North American Cement, reported arousing noise and firing.

Uruguayan escorts accompanied the ship as it left port and headed toward Rio de Janeiro. Members of the Winchester Shpile Club held their regular year end meeting in the Merchants building and elected officers for a six month term. Charles P. McVicar becomes president, Major S. House as vice president, George Petley as secretary and treasurer. Dr. T. McFaden received a gold ring in appreciation for his leadership. The club, started last April with 27 members, now has 62 active members.
Fire leveled a half block in Sharon Pa today causing about 300000 dollars in losses. The Deforest V building and several frame warehouses in the block were burned along with other frame structures.
