Italians Retreat As Ethiopian Forces Attack In Front

Reports from Eritrea indicate Ethiopian forces test skirmishes along the Tigre front before a mass assault. Italian officers say Ethiopians attacked Italian outposts with about 3 000 troops, while Italians and Eritrean troops resisted and withdrew to safer lines. Casualties included four Italian officers killed and three wounded, nine Italian soldiers dead, with Eritrean losses noted as well.
