Merchant Robert Shade Dies After Truck Overturns
Robert Shade, 66, a Siler merchant and postmaster, was crushed when his motor truck overturned about one half mile east of Siler while en route to Winchester. He died within moments despite neighbors extricating him. Survived by two daughters, two sisters, two brothers, and several nephews. Funeral plans not yet set, interment expected at Greenwood Cemetery, near Uhger's Store, W Va.

Deputy Wounded In Bank Robbery Shootout Dies In Hospital
A deputy sheriff Joe Walker of Dana Indiana died today after being wounded during a bank robbery at Clinton Indiana. The bandits escaped in a car and were pursued by a posse led by Sheriff Ernie Boetts. Two bandits were found dead and others captured or wounded as the chase continued across Indiana Illinois and into Scotland Illinois. The loot about fifteen thousand dollars mostly recovered.

Baltimore December 17. Herman Westphal a Howard County farmer on trial for murder testified today he shot Charles Hubbel in self defense. He said Hubbel fired first after an altercation over shotguns while Westphal was caretaker of a landmark three story frame house burned earlier.
