Mississippi backer claims campaign funds unturned in 1941
B L Knost of Meridian testifies before the Bilbo Investigating Committee that a $3 750 contribution from he and partner Mike Morrissey to a Mississippi campaign fund in 1941 was not received by the men running the campaign. He said he gave the money to Edward P Terry for use in the unsuccessful bid to elect Wall Sexey to the U S Senate. later, he was told by Robert Gandy and Forrest Jackson that they did not get the funds. The witness notes the money may have been used in the campaign but never reached them. Previously he and Morrissey had contributed in June 1942.

Negro Killed as Car Hits Cyclist in Middletown
Fred Gant 55, a respected Black resident of Middletown, was instantly killed yesterday afternoon after being struck by a car driven by Bernard Bevins of Brattleboro, while riding a bicycle near Annabelle's Restaurant. The driver posted $1,000 bond for a Wednesday hearing. Gant, a native of Bunker Hill WV, had lived in Middletown about 26 years and is survived by a widow and numerous children and relatives. Funeral services will be held at Mount Zion Methodist Church.
