The Patron's League of Boyce Agricultural High School will hold a community Christmas tree service Monday at 8 in front of the Parish Hall. Gifts will be for the needy, with baskets of canned goods and toys for Santa to distribute. Churches will stage separate Christmas programs that week.
State and county officers led by Sergeant Ermil Clark raided two handbook rooms in Martinsburg late Monday, seizing racing results and dope sheets as operators handled bets from Winchester to Maryland. A Winchester man named Clare placed six dollars on a horse called Juggler. authorities plan hearings the next day.
The Ebenezer Church of Christ will hold a dedicatory service next Sunday morning after regular worship. The Rev. S. J. Goode will lead as hymnals and other church equipment are dedicated. All members and others are invited to attend.

Thirty-two trucks carrying overseas liquor bound for New York and eastern cities passed through Virginia safely. Three additional trucks worth about 40000 dollars were seized in Buckingham county with three men arrested. A further truck was captured at Farmville as state chemists confirmed the liquor as high grade and purity.

Lavina Reed, described as a highly incensed colored woman, was sentenced to 30 days in jail by Judge Donald L. Weems after pleading that the stabbing of her sweetheart Howard Dolman was done while intoxicated and unknown to her. Dolman reportedly visited another woman, prompting the incident.

Sarah Williams, a colored woman from Upperville Fauquier County, was struck on South Loudoun Street near Memorial Hospital today by an automobile driven by Preston Herrell of Ridgeway West Virginia. She was taken to Memorial Hospital and police defer action pending her injuries outcome. Herrell was released on his own recognizance.
Dr. Howard L. James of Chicago has arrived in Winchester seeking to locate as a licensed chiropractor. A National College of Chiropractors graduate, he previously headed the X ray department there and has spent time in Alexandria Virginia.
The Country Store, a Christmas seal campaign feature for tuberculosis work, will be held Saturday at the District Nurse Association rooms near the Court House. Mrs. D. W. Ritenour says the store opens at nine and runs all day with goods sold at moderate prices inviting Winchester residents and neighbors to contribute dressed chickens cakes meats butter eggs and produce.
The Washington Ladies' barber will be at Mrs. Evelyn Shryock's Beauty Shop tomorrow all day. The event appears as a local service notice with a time block from 16 to 1.

Arthur P. Holland longtime Gainesboro resident dies at his home after a six week illness of multiple ailments. He was a farmer and active Democrat, registrar of Gainesboro precinct, and member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South board of stewards. Survived by widow Nellie Rogers and three sons. Funeral Friday at Gainesboro Methodist Church with burial in Mount Hebron Cemetery in Winchester. Pallbearers listed.
