Rider Hitch-Hike Robber Shot and Discharged in West Virginia
Robert Bennear, shot and robbed near Gore on November 20, has been discharged from Winchester Memorial Hospital and returned home to Thomas, West Virginia. He described a medium, five foot seven hitch-hiker wearing a brown leather jacket with glassed eyes and a recent army background, who forced him to drive and stole his watch ring and money before firing. Despite fingerprints and a chest bullet sent to the FBI lab, investigators say the trail is cold with no suspect identified.

Norfolk city detective George W. Perkins, 33, died after his 1946 Ford coupe overturned on U S Route 522 near Gainesboro. Passenger George Lantses, 49, was treated for injuries. 23 Persons Dead After Manhattan Tenement Fire
