Army defeats Navy 6 to 0 in a charity gridiron game held at Yankee Stadium New York. The event draws both service school teams and supporters aiming to fund unemployed relief.
A 600000 pledge at Yankee Stadium supports Salvation Army relief as Army and Navy football teams renew a 40 year rivalry. Attending dignitaries included Allan Hoover, senators, diplomats, mayors, Army and Navy officers, Evangeline Booth, plus cabinet members and the President's son. About 70,000 spectators endured a cold December sky.

The motorcycles collision with an auto driven by Mrs Jenkins son near Martinsburg in October 1929 caused Russler to lose a leg and Englow to claim permanent disability.
