The initial 18 mile local section of Interstate Rt. 81 near Stephens City is tentatively slated for bid advertisement January 3. Work planned for the remaining section to the West Virginia line is tentatively set for June 6.
Federal Judge Lewis rejected bids to hear the cases as class actions involving admittances to white schools in Richmond West Point and Stafford County. He gave attorney S W Tucker 30 days to amend suits to remove class claims and warned a special three judge court may review constitutionality if amended. The judge noted no guiding precedents exist in the Eastern or Fourth Circuit.

A Kabletown dam near Charles Town would flood about 14 000 acres in Clarke County and the West Virginia panhandle, with 8 500 acres for flowage ease ment and 10 000 acres plus 4 000 acres affected by the dam elsewhere. Col Warren R. Johnson said fair market compensation and relocation costs would be paid.
