Army officers badly needed at West Point cadet size cut
Brig Gen Douglas MacArthur warns in his annual report that West Point cadet numbers should rise from 1234 to 2500. The academy would then supply only about one third of officers required for a 150000 man peacetime army, with emergency needs unmet. Construction to expand the cadet corps to 2500 would cost about 6 million dollars, excluding two buildings and hotels.
