Behind the Screen With Chas. Chaplin at Empire
The empire screens Chaplin in Behind the Screen, his seventh release in a $676,000 yearly contract. Critics hail it as the funniest Chaplin film yet with a studio set farcical chaos and his antics causing camera chaos, director friction, and slapstick mayhem. Edna Purveyance appears as an awkward country girl and later disguises as a boy in overalls.
