Egypt orders closing of Soviet and East European posts
Cairo announces the closure of all Soviet Union and four East European consulates and cultural centers outside the capital. Prime Minister Mamdouh Salem says the cabinet acted after Sadat warned the Soviets they can be punished for promoting anti Sadat activity and fuelling opposition to Egypt's peace initiative with Israel.
