A two point program for the 1907 March of Dimes campaign was outlined at a George Washington Hotel meeting. John H. Yeatts of Richmond described vaccine education and fundraising to support treatment for polio patients. D E Leatherman, Rotary District governor and local advisory member, delivered the principal address.
Robert Geanious was named police clerk for the midnight to 8 a m shift in Winchester effective December 1. Chief J Thomas Boyd also announced Warren Fogle, a former clerk, becomes full time patrolman on the same shift. Geanious, a Winchester native, will continue part time work at Pifer Stationery after Christmas. He is married to Natala Russell. they have a three week old son.
A local shopper orders a Lane cedar chest as a Christmas gift at Schewels located on West Cork Street. The purchase is tied to the store’s holiday inventory and promotion, with delivery and payment details arranged through the retailer.

A house owned by Mr. and Mrs. Paw Racy in Boyce sustained heavy damage from a fire reported yesterday evening. Firefighters from John Enders and Citizens of Charles Town aided, with water drawn from a cistern and nearby trucks. The blaze damaged three rooms on the second floor and a hallway, destroying clothing and suffocating the family parakeet. the baby was carried to safety by Mr. Racy.
The regular monthly meeting of the Friendship Fire Company will be held Thursday night December sixth at 8 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Important business to be addressed, announced Captain Kinzell Grubbs.
Frederick County Agent John T. Wolfe announces the annual Pasture and Fruit Banquet will be held Friday December 14 at 6 30 p m in the James Wood High School cafeteria. James W. Dodd Jr of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond will be principal speaker with Julian A. Everly serving as toastmaster. Certificates and cash awards will be given to winners in the county pasture and fruit contest and to 4 H and F F A youth corn growing contest participants.
In a House of Commons clash Lloyd accused Bevan of evading asked questions and argued that British action in the Suez crisis exposed Soviet penetration of Egypt. Bevan condemned the government for conniving at the war as Eden’s fate hangs in the balance.
Carollyn Charles a junior at Princess Anne High School was named first place winner in the Virginia Junior Chamber of Commerce Voice of Democracy contest. She will receive a trophy and an all expense paid trip to Washington. Second place went to Alva Virginia Brown of Cradock High School. Patsy Ann Beckerstaff of St Patrick s in Richmond took third.

President Eisenhower plans a mid January tour of drought struck states in the Midwest and Southwest. A 22 year old interior department employee and modeling student was forced into a car at knife point near Columbia Pike and Highland Street Arlington about 11 pm. She was driven to Fairfax County then returned near her home around 2 am with a black eye and scratches. Police described a white man about 25 with wavy hair and protruding teeth driving a roughly ten year old cap.
