Members of the South End Hose Company purchased Red Cross Christmas seals at their regular meeting last night. About 500 seals were distributed to the president by a District Nurse Association representative and quickly sold. Rev. Robert B. Nelson spoke on Contagion of Character and led prayer to open and close the gathering. Joseph B. Newlin and Dr. C. B. Harlee also spoke. the company agreed to attend the Charley Rouss Fire Company bazar and oyster supper. Despite rain, the session drew a large crowd and hosted a post meeting smoker.

Russell Stickley was found not guilty by a Cirrcuit Court jury after a daylong trial on a charge of assaulting J. W. Steele, a county real estate agent. The defense contended self defense after Steele allegedly struck Stickley with stones. witnesses testified to the disputed sale and commission claims.
About fifty to sixty unemployed men advertised for journeys to Ridgeway West Virginia to take ground work at the soon to be built automobile factory. They searched for a boss to arrange wages but no official could be found and the men dispersed returning to their hometowns.

The Rev Cary Montague city missioner of Richmond will address a women’s meeting at 3 30 pm and a men’s meeting at 7 30 pm Wednesday in Christ Episcopal Church. He will discuss the churchs relation to hospital work in the state. Montague is noted as a top informed Virginia expert on mission work and has long served in city missionary activities and as a visiting missioner at prisons.
