Elderly homeowners received winterization aid Saturday through the Mainstream Jaycees project. Volunteers weather stripped doors sealed windows and split firewood with materials funded by the Halloween Haunted House at Old John Kerr School.
The Tri County Virginia Opportunities Industrialization Center begins a job training course serving Frederick Warren Clarke and Winchester counties. About 15 trainees aged 17 to 32, with diverse backgrounds, start basic trades with three courses planned this year. Funding comes from local governments and seed money support, including Clarke and Warren counties.
The State Water Control Board and Avtex Fibers Inc reach a mutual consent order to meet EPA pH effluent limits in Avtex’s Front Royal storm sewer.
