Diamond cutter turns 90-carat Sierra Leone gem into four stones
New York diamond dealer George Kelrick transformed a 90-carat Sierra Leone diamond into four gems including a 30-carat emerald cut, a 7.05-carat marquise, and two 6-carat stones after two months of sawing and polishing. The process relied on precise grain plotting and careful use of a high speed saw. The work was a long range gamble with high risk of losing the big stone.
