Hormone Spray Recommended For Apple Crop
Dr. E L Overholser of VPI hort dept told Frederick County Fruit Growers Assn that hormone sprays notably 2 4 D should be used next week to keep apples on the tree longer. Sixty growers heard the talk at the Winchester courthouse. A rate of three quarters of a teaspoon per 240 to 100 gallons of water was suggested to avoid over cling. Dr A H Teske backed the recommendation. The Frederick Clarke Farm Wage Board heard growers and drafted a recommendation to L B Dietrick at VPI.

A-bomb Photo Theft Charged To Young Ex-GI
Frederick Kivi 27 year old Brooklyn ex soldier today consented to removal to New Mexico to face charges of taking highly confidential photographs from the Los Alamos atomic installation. FBI said he was arrested in Brooklyn with 37 photographs and 10 negatives, initially denied theft, later admitting removing classified pictures. He claimed to have made 500 official photographs before burning them after leaving the army in 1946. He had worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory before being relieved following the investigation.
