Ralph Clinewell a 30 year old Roanoke inmate serving 11 years for second degree homicide was killed at 5 35 p m in a tool shed area of Convict Camp No 29 about a mile west of the city on Route 7 Beavers and Jewell both 19 20 signed confessions. The attack occurred as 38 prisoners gathered near the shed guards unseen as the two assailants struck Clinewell and he died at Memorial Hospital later.

Child Dies Mysteriously Near Kernstown
Edith June Leake fourteen daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Leake of Middle Road near Kernstown died suddenly yesterday afternoon. A piece of gum was removed from her throat but Dr George H Smith Jr of Winchester said the gum was not the cause and the child was likely dead before reaching Memorial Hospital.
