First Frederick congressman Alexander White detailed
Local History recalls Alexander White born about 1738 in Frederick, a Federalist lawyer and leader from Winchester. He served Hampshire Burgess 1772, Frederick delegate 1782-86 and 1788, helped ratify the Constitution, joined First and Second Congress 1789-93, then returned to law. He died October 9 1804 at Woodville near Winchester.

An inmate was killed and four others wounded in a 45 minute disturbance at the Colorado State Reformatory in Buena Vista. About 125 prisoners fought in a cell block as 60 armed officers broke up the riot with gunfire led by Warden James S. Thomas who opened fire to restore control.

The Rev Henry William Korinth aged 27 will become pastor of Centenary Evangelical and Reformed Church Sunday succeeding Dr L Flickinger who retires after 35 years. Korinth, a Baltimore native, studied at the University of Baltimore Elmhurst College Eden Seminary and was ordained June 30 1957 at Baltimore before taking the Centenary appointment. He and his wife Joyce will live in the parsonage while remodeling proceeds.
