Tragic Shooting Death Of 4 Year Old In Stephens City
Four year old Bobby Dodson died after a loaded 16 gauge double barrel shotgun discharged while two boys played in bed at their home near Stephens City. Uncle Alvin Richard Dodson, eight, says he didn’t know the gun was loaded. The grandfather owned the gun stored upstairs after recent prowler concerns. Dr. J A Troxell is awaiting a report on possible inquest. Bobby’s body rests at Stover Funeral Home in Strasburg as funeral plans are made.

High Point Man Held for Grand Jury in Fatal Hit and Run
John Lee Floyd of High Point North Carolina was ordered held for action of a Corporation court grand jury on a hit and run charge involving a fatality. Benjamin Lewis Thompson of Washington was held as a material witness in the case. The incident killed Mrs Bessie Stottlemeyer on August 9 near her home on Route 50 east of town. Floyd pleaded not guilty and was represented by H R Kern Jr. Thompson had no counsel. Both men face additional charges under the National Vehicle Theft Act for allegedly driving a stolen car from Washington. Four witnesses testified for the commonwealth and described beer purchases and the car scene.

In Shelbyville Illinois a 16 year old bride Mrs Jacqueline Heston and her 12 year old brother Walter Knearem were shot at a roller rink. The estranged husband Donald Heston 22 identified by witnesses as the slayer was found later by police dead at his father Earl Heltons farm home where the mother Florence Helton 60 was shot in the hand and arm.

Two Youths Fined For Orchard Peaches Thefts
