Pastor Poultryman Cleared of Cruelty in Jug Experiment
In Westminster Maryland August 26 a police magistrate found Reverend Frank E Williams not guilty of cruelty to animals for raising a chicken to maturity inside a five gallon glass jug. The Maryland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals had argued the method was unhealthy and witnesses described the chicken as dejected while others claimed faster weight gain inside the jug. The chicken had been exhibited at Mr Williar’s poultry establishment before being released.
