Carpenter a retired United States Marine Corps officer died at 3 p m Sunday in the Naval Hospital Washington D C He was 62 born in Clarke County and survived by his second wife Miss Margaret McClelland a sister Major McClelland of Philadelphia a brother Nathanial Carpenter of Kansas City and nephew William Holliday The body will be brought to Berryville for funeral services likely Wednesday
Poultrymen and women urged to enter the Winchester fair with a final deadline set for Wednesday August 25. Entries will not be accepted after that date to ease last minute work and allow proper arranging by Tuesday morning when the fair opens.
