Refunds to Va. Policyholders from State Farm
State Farm Mutual Insurance Co will refund 1.6 million dollars to Virginia policyholders starting Oct 15 as fewer accidents were reported. Executive VP Roland Marston cited profit dollars not counted in the first half of the year. Refunds come as premium credits or by check if policies aren’t renewed, totaling about 3.8 percent of premiums for 473,000 Virginia policyholders.

Youths Complete Summer Work With Neighborhood Youth Corp
About 160 area youths finished a summer stint with the Neighborhood Youth Corp. The season ended with a picnic at Frederick Douglass School in Winchester. Debbie Able from the Virginia Employment Commission said the youths served with non profit groups including schools and parks. Clair Brisco coordinated the effort, also directing the in school employment program for the commission.
