Calamity at White Post Barn Fire Claims Young Fireman
Fire of unknown origin last night destroyed the large barn of Joseph Funkhouser at White Post Clarke county Virginia. Wiley Weeks about 20 years old employed at the farm may have perished inside while attempting to rescue a calf. Debris hindered search as flames raged from the roof. Barn contents including 600 bushels of wheat and hay were destroyed. Only partly insured the loss exceeds 5000 dollars with no coverage on contents. Several hundred neighbors aided by Berryville and Winchester fire crews. residence was spared.

Skeletons Found During Parsonage Foundation Dig
Workmen digging the foundation for the Lutheran Church parsonage on South Stewart Street uncovered two nearly intact skeletons buried four to five feet deep. Believed to be Civil War era soldiers or hospital patients, they were not identified. Norfolk August 20 Judge O L Shackleford of Corporation Court No 2 issued a rule against Northampton County Sheriff Charles M Lankford to appear Friday and show cause why he should not be punished for arresting Carroll Parsons after Parsons had been freed on habeas corpus. Parsons was convicted in Northampton County Circuit Court on January 25, 1929 for violating prohibitions law and sentenced to nine months in jail and a $250 fine. the Virginia Supreme Court affirmed the judgment on appeal.
