Court Rules Abortion Right Is Woman's Own Decision
A federal appeals court in New Orleans affirmed a Miami ruling that a woman or girl may exercise abortion rights without husband or parental consent. The 5th Circuit struck down two Florida statutes, one supporting a husband’s rights, noting the husband’s interest in the fetus is not decisive. The court questioned the federal stance on men’s rights to beget and raise offspring versus a woman’s right to terminate.
