Special to The Star Lexington Virginia August 19 Preparations are under way for about 2000 attendees at the second governor’s regional highway conference to be held in Lexington on August 27. Committees led by Commissioner A Willis and officials from Cra g Montg ery Roanoke Botetourt Alleghany Rockbridge and neighboring counties organize events. A luncheon at the VMI mess hall will feature music and addresses. After the meeting visitors tour sites including the tombs of Robert E Lee and Stonewall Jackson. Boy Scouts Return From Camp After Field Day
Troop 1 Boy Scouts returned to Winchester after a two week camp at Camp White Rock on Capon River near Capon Bridge. Rotary club members drove up to transport the boys, with Stine as Assistant Scoutmaster and Bill Reno and Bill Kern aiding. Field day decisions crowned junior winner Charles Massey with 32 points, Philip Glaize 31, and Loui Rice 27. Intermediate honors went to Charles Anderson 34, Tom Scully 31, Taylor Simpson 28, Dan Wright 25.
