Sugar sale to consumer on Thursday in Winchester
At a Winchester Chamber of Commerce meeting it was arranged that a carload of granulated sugar arrived in Winchester will be sold at cost to consumers. Sales start Thursday at 10 am at the Chamber headquarters Court Square, with daily sales until the carload is gone. Packages are ten to twenty pounds, limit twenty pounds per family, price one and a half cents per pound. Buyers must sign a pledge that no other family member will obtain sugar for them and that no one else has been asked to obtain sugar. The aim is fair access for county residents and to relieve the sugar shortage within a week to ten days.
