The Winchester Public Schools begin the 1932 33 session on Thursday September 8 at 9 o clock with the lunch program and full departmental sessions. A preliminary teachers meet is set for September 7 in Handley building room 22. Residents only may enroll six year olds by January 31 1933 with tuition for non residents.
The Red Cross in Winchester warns residents to refuse to care for babies or small children left by strangers at homes. Over the past weeks locals were asked to shelter unknown children, only for the children to be abandoned and turned over to the Red Cross. Yesterday another incident occurred. officials cite insufficient funds and say they will not encourage such practice.

The Winchester Concert Band plans a 6 o'clock Friday performance on the Court House lawn led by Prof. W H McIlwee with a balanced program of standard music. The concert will proceed unless rain interrupts at the scheduled hour.

Funeral services for Harry Edward Bester were held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hagerstown Md. He was 62 and died from pneumonia after surgery. Bester was a key local businessman and founder of Southern Chemical Company and co owner of related firms. He led civic groups including the Hagerstown Fair Association and the Blue Ridge League club. He was a Democrat and held multiple fraternal memberships.

James A. Farley Democratic National Chairman announced after a conference with John J. Raskob and party officials that arrangements have been made to liquidate the Democratic Party debts. Other attendees included Robert Jackson and Frank C. Walker.
Ward L Cadwallader a well known Frederick county farmer died early today of a heart attack while milking at his farm He was about 45 and survived by his wife Vernie Renner five sisters and five brothers The funeral will be held Saturday at the Macedonia Methodist Church South with interment in the family cemetery lot near the church
J Fred Goss plant superintendent at Winchester Gas Company was struck by a sudden illness between 11 and 12 last night and remains in serious condition this afternoon. He has served the company about 35 years and also acts as assistant city fire warden.
Frederick county sheriffs deputies and state officers arrested Ward Puffinberger and Dayton Omps after warrants were issued by A. J Tavenner. The men are charged with larceny of corn beans peas and potatoes from gardens in the northwestern county area.
Police report two trash pile fires in the city on Sunday near Indian Alley south and north of Piccadilly street. Firefighters extinguished both blazes quickly with no serious damage. Chief Hollis said investigators expect arrests soon as officers question several locals. Authorities warn a prank could have caused hundreds of thousands in property loss if not stopped.
