Premier Mussolini presses for Italian occupation of East Africa to secure concessions. Conference representatives react with growing fear as King Selassie remains an uncertain factor in the crisis shaping the region.
In Paris a British spokesman warned that Mussolini's failure to declare Ethiopia demands slowed the Anglo French Italian conference on Ethiopia's fate. In Addis Ababa Ethiopian troops move to the frontier as peace talks stagnate, with Dedjazmatch Abarrah and Haile Selassie in war councils. An Italian consulate secretary and Ethiopian policeman clashed at Dire Dawa amid rising frontier tensions.
The boys from Head quarters Company and Company I entrain for their old camp ground at Virginia Beach for a two week encampment. Nearby towns Berryville and Bedford approved a combined 2500 for a new armory, as the national guard is needed in many communities. Hyde Park Aug 16 The President has asked Baltimore officials to show leniency in a case involving a youth taken from the President's private car last night for innocently catching a ride. Roosevelt was relaxed upon learning a man rode on the rear steps of the car from Washington to Baltimore and was removed by railroad officials without stopping. Marvin H. McIntyre, secretary to the President, relayed the leniency request.
Brigadier General Leon Gagliardi of the Albanian army was assassinated yesterday while on vacation in Albania. Riots erupted at a resort near Tirana but were quickly quelled by authorities. Military officials announced that control has been transferred to military authorities.

Rodman active civic leader and Apple Blossom Festival organizer with wife Frances Capper and their four year old son planning to move to Cumberland September 1.
