Strode's Hoss Fire Rips Boyce Town. Water Shortage Delays Tackling Blaze
Fire destroys Strode buildings in Boyce Clarke county as wind shifts. Norfolk and Western Railroad station nearby in danger. Town lacks adequate water supply. cisterns drained, bucket brigades, and two railroad engines with water tanks finally extinguish the blaze after about two hours. Mr Strode unable to explain origin. Levi Vitae, a colored man from West Virginia, was shot and stabbed in Martinsburg months ago. Reamer was found by an officer in a rooming house and agreed to return for trial. Williams survived the assault, and Reamer claims Williams first attacked him on the street prompting the shooting.

Blister Leads to Blood Poisoning in Local Boy
Ten year old Ralph Marker son of Mr and Mrs D Marker of the county rubbed a blister from a wheelbarrow on his hand. The blister broke and blood poisoning developed.
