The Atomic Energy Commission will build a new 1.2 billion dollar plant in Pike County Ohio about 18 to 20 miles north of Portsmouth to produce gaseous diffusion for uranium enrichment. The site will relocate about 50 families and employ up to 4,000 workers during construction with a capacity of 1,800,000 kilowatts.
