In Chicago a 16 year old girl Aurora D Angelo led a mob of about four thousand toward the loop shouting anarchist slogans and mob the police. Police used tear gas and gunfire to disperse the crowd with fifty seven men and four women arrested including the girl leader.
The Rotary Club baseball team won the first game of a six game Inter-Club League series 14 to 4 against the Kiwanis. Lunsford pitched well for Kiwanis, allowing 13 hits, while Sandy Baker limited Rotary to six. Next up Friday features Elks vs Lions with a tie to be resolved in two weeks. All proceeds go to the crippled children’s fund.
Bodies of two men found on a suburban Chicago road, believed shot in a car and dumped, with shattered glass and 45 caliber shell casings nearby. The victims, described as Italians, appear to have been killed in a gangster style shooting.

It found Mary Waite 24 year old stewardess did not intend to harm him by pouring acid over him while he slept. Fisher died at sea Friday aboard the vessel. Waite was arrested on arrival in port.
Frankin Louisiana James Beadle a Morgan City rapper received a life sentence for his role in the murder of James Leboues a Morgan City utility worker.
Pleasant Valley S. S. holds its annual picnic at Little Mountain grounds on Saturday August 13. Activities start in the morning and continue through the afternoon with games, music, and food for attendees from the church community.

Two U S Navy lieutenants George Covell and R W Waggener died when their No 8 flight plane crashed on Point Loma after leaving San Diego Bay for Oakland. Covell, 26, was born in Nebraska and survived by a wife and two children. Waggener, 26, of Florida, was reportedly engaged.

Mrs. Sophie Virginia Avis 82 died last night on Main Street Harrisonburg after a two week paralysis illness. Born in 1845 in Lancaster County she was married to Dr. James L. Avis and cared for him in illness. Survived by sons Payne and James L. Avis and daughter Imogene Avis Palmer and a granddaughter Delbert Smith. Funeral Thursday at Emmanuel Church with interment Woodbine cemetery.

The remains of Mrs. Edward M. Barr who died in Louisville Kentucky Monday night will arrive tomorrow and go to her son C Fred Barr's home 221 West Boscawen Street for funeral services at 430 Friday afternoon. She is survived by three half sisters Alice Hayeslett Brucetown Ruth Karthoff Philadelphia and Bettie Yost Philadelphia and cousins William Holliday Clarke County and Laura C Allen Frederick Maryland.
