The governor's reorganization staff reports potential savings in printing costs for the 1948 Virginia General Assembly. It notes separate firms printed bills and acts, with possible overcharges from composition rates and no credit for standing type. The 1948 costs totaling 125000 appear high and could be reduced by consolidated contracts and preserved type handling.

Lovett Denies Outside Influence On B-36 Contract
Former assistant secretary of war for air Robert A. Lovett told the House armed services committee there was absolutely no outside influence to secure the B36 bomber contract in 1941. He said the B36 arose from a need to carry a 10,000 pound bomb load 10,000 miles and noted Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Co. won the design contract after bids from three firms. He denied links to Atlas Corp or its leaders Floyd Odlum and Victor Emmanuel.
