Fire destroys stave mill near Martinsburg West Virginia
The stave mill owned by Mr. Cazar at Martinsburg, three miles northeast of Bunker Hill, was destroyed by a Sunday afternoon fire that started from burning sawdust. About $3,000 worth of staves ready for shipment were lost. The owner had not yet estimated total damages. Roy Landis and wife visited Mr. Roy Strasburg. Mrs. Anna Bltgher and son from Dry attended.

Six Convicts Attempt Escape From Camp
One afternoon last week four black convicts at the Front Royal road camp near Winchester attempted to escape. A guard ordered them to halt. one continued running and ignoring orders, was fired upon and hit in the arm. He was recaptured and given surgical aid and will recover if blood poisoning does not develop. It is uncertain if charges or further punishment will be pursued by local authorities or the camp officials.
