Reds Hit South Vietnamese Militia East of Saigon

Communist led forces attacked South Vietnamese militiamen 17 miles east of Saigon near the Vung Tau highway. Reports say 30-40 South Vietnamese killed and about as many wounded as fighting tapered by night.

Suit Served On Airport In Back Salary And Fixtures

Front Royal Warren County Airport Commission has been served with a civil suit for 1150 dollars. The plaintiff is former airport operator B Scotty McCray. The complaint names Richard Culp as chairman. The Board and Town Council backed the airport commission and may hire legal defense or seek a counter suit from two local attorneys.

Peat Bogs Burn Near Moscow In Wide Fire

A pall of blue gray smoke hung over Moscow as peat bogs about 75 miles from the capital burned covering 2,500 acres. More than 1,000 workers with heavy equipment fought the insidious fire as it shifted locations. No casualties or damage totals reported. The area was closed to foreign journalists. Heat and drought were cited as contributing factors.

Storm damage cleaned up after Winchester wind storms

Utility lines were repaired and streets cleared after two late afternoon storms in Winchester. Potomac Edison reported 20 to 25 service outages. phone lines down numbered 31. No storm injuries or fires were linked to the storms. Damaging winds and hail caused most destruction near Cork Street and Stewart Street, with several trees down and a damaged car.

House panel approves bill limiting court power on school desegregation

The House Education and Labor Committee approved a Nixon influenced bill by 21 to 16 limiting court orders for busing in desegregation cases.
