Barkley Captures Kentucky Senate Nomination Lead

FRANKFORT Aug 8 Governor Chandler conceded the senatorial nomination to Senator Alben Barkley and pledged active support in November. Returns showed Barkley leading Chandler by 38,159 with 3,398 of 4,313 precincts counted. Barkley predicted a 60,000 to 70,000 majority in the final tally. Mrs. A B Chandler blamed federal money in Kentucky campaigning for her husband’s defeat.
