Dorsey, a well known resident of a county area, was severely hurt late yesterday afternoon after entering a barn with a calf. He cannot recall the incident or what caused his injuries, with family and doctors unsure whether a bull attacked him or if other factors were involved.
American consul general Luther K. Alther in Vancouver British Columbia is hospitalized in serious condition. Alther, 44, unmarried and son of the late William C. Alther of this city, has suffered months of poor health with recent tuberculosis symptoms, per telegrams to relatives and a dispatch to the American vice consulate.
A large crowd attended the South End Hose Company yard party on West Monmouth Street. The event featured attractions and a fancy raffle with attractive items. The gathering was noted as pleasantly cool and well hosted by the hose company.
Chairman Butler of the Republican National Committee accepted Robert M. La Follette Jr. plan for electors in Wisconsin. The ticket remains nominally under La Follette group control but pledged to Coolidge, as announced in Washington. A separate lost license tag notice follows: truck tag 23045, reward, Garber Mfg. Co.
Sen Robert M La Follette of Wisconsin independent candidate for president denounces the Ku Klux Klan in a letter to publisher Robert P Scripps. He says the movement is foredoomed and should be opposed for its prejudice and distraction from issues vital to government. He stresses equal constitutional rights for all citizens and vows to break private monopoly power in campaign. The letter accompanies his critique of religious and other controversies diverting attention from restoration of government to the people. Meanwhile La Follette and Wheeler tours are planned in Illinois and Missouri with a rural speaking outreach by Philip La Follette and Walter Mills in August.
Beverley Wright and Donald Nixdorf escaped injury when Wright ditched a Ford roadster on the Millwood pike to avoid a collision with J W Elliott’s car carrying Rev Thomas S Kenny and family. Wright’s car overturned, Nixdorf cut a arm, damages about 68 dollars settled by Elliott.

Harry Sartelle, longtime assistant cashier of Farmers and Merchants National Bank of Winchester, resigns to become treasurer and general manager of Winchester Credit Corporation. He will leave the bank Monday after finalizing duties. he previously served as cashier of the Bank of Geneva, Indiana. The board expressed regret and plans to reorganize across the bank.
The Empire Theatre pre fall season opens next Monday and Tuesday with The Eternal City a Sir Hall Caine story produced by Georges Fitzmaurice through Associated First National Pictures. Lionel Barrymore Richard Bennett Barbara La Marr Bert Lytell Montagu Love lead a starry cast as Rome unfolds on nine reels with three daily shows.
The Dol lar Day Contest issued two new numbers on August 1. All previous numbers are void. New numbers 2,402 win $10 in gold and 10,834 win $5 in gold. Present numbers available at Star Office.

John Calloway Walton, ousted by impeachment and later nominated for the Senate, leads in the Democratic primary by over 7,500 votes. His Republican rival is W. B. Pine of Okmulgee, backed by the Klan, as the organization's influence looms large in the race.
Dr James Russell of New York rushed to Earl Sande's bedside after a severe leg injury at Saratoga race track. Sande's condition remains serious with splints applied and an eighteen pound weight to prevent shortening. Doctors may use the clincher bone fracture method if progress stalls and transfer care to Roosevelt Hospital.
