Rates Not Changed Here in Winchester

The Corporation Commission rejected Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company rate increases in Virginia for Winchester. The commission held no jurisdiction over rates fixed by franchise and denied toll hikes to Clarke County lines, granting only a five cent three minute call. City Solicitor Philip Williams opposed higher rates, arguing patrons should not pay for a bad bargain, and his presentation influenced the commission.
