Senate panels clears presidential disability amendment
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a constitutional amendment on presidential disability and vice presidency. It would allow the vice president to be filled by presidential nomination and majority consent of both houses. The plan also creates an acting president role if the president is unable to perform duties. Action by two thirds of both houses and three fourths of states is required, with seven years to ratify. prospects for passage seem unlikely this session.
