Jay Morton a lifelong publisher turns to sculpture in Winchester show
Jay Morton once a child star and long time publisher now concentrates on sculpture. His Headr series Mankind features ethnic heads to be shown at the Farmers and Merchants National Bank in Winchester in September with later displays planned at Handley Library and the Miami Museum of Science. Morton, a Hollywood native and Summit summer resident, has lived in Miami and Frederick, and his work reflects decades in publishing and design including an invention in panel plate and a triangular beverage can. His Nordic head models Admiral Richard Byrd and other figures, while his basement studio holds life size pieces and detailed craftsmanship. The Sept 5 preview at the F and M Bank marks a local first for the exhibit.
