Convicts Recaptured After Escape From Staunton Camp
Three convicts who fled a prison camp near Staunton were recaptured near Harrisonburg by Deputy Sheriff A. R. Gilkerson. They had traveled about 25 miles on a fatigued trek with little food, seeking the home of Jack Baugher, one of the trio, with accomplices William Cabbage and Perdue. None admitted how the escape was made. Baugher, 18 years for robbery. Cabbage, 16 years for housebreaking. Perdue, five years for store robbery. Officers learned of the fugitives while they stopped for water at a filling station.
