Cabbie arrested for hoax bomb report on Nixon plane
FBI agents in Reno arrested Leonard Dale Sage a onetime wrestler known as Johnnie Savage for falsely reporting a bomb on Vice President Nixon s campaign plane. The hoax caused a brief takeoff delay while a search found no bomb. Sage 34 has an arrest record dating to 1942 and becomes the 27th such case this year. He was to be arraigned in Reno.

Jury Acquits Tobacco Firm of Damages in Cancer Suit
A federal jury in Miami found American Tobacco Co did not owe damages in the Edwin Green lung cancer case. Green died at 49 in 1958 after a 30 year smoking history with Lucky Strikes. The verdict held smoking a proximate cause of some cancer diagnosis but no liability for damages. The judge had previously allowed a separate suit by Otto Pritchard against Liggett & Myers for 1.25 million dollars.

A 45 year old man Wilson C Zirk of Old Fields was indicted on a murder charge in the death of Eldridge Lee Ritter a Virginia salesman whose body was found in a car near Moorefield West Virginia on July 14. The indictment followed a three witness proceeding before Hardy County grand jury Judge H C Muntzing set bond at 2500 dollars and Zirk was released. prosecutors say the July term may be recalled to try him on the murder charge. A coroner's inquest earlier concluded Ritter died under suspicious circumstances.
