Richard Ashby a longtime colored hotel porter in Winchester died aged about 85 in Memorial Hospital after years of service at the Hart Hotel and Taylor Hotel. He waited on many famous visitors including General Phil Sheridan and Don Cameron. He was a devout church member and trustee of John Mann M E Church. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 30 PM at John Mann Church with burial in Orrick Cemetery.
