Detroit Rainstorm Causes Major Damage and Flooding

The Detroit area suffered extensive damage after a 4.71 inch rainfall over about 18 hours. Industrial plants and the city faced flooded basements, ruined office furniture, and pavements damaged. Ford Rouge plant pumped basements to prevent further losses while thousands were reassigned to pumps. Total damage pegged around 2 million dollars. In Dorchester County Maryland, rain benefits some crops yet tomato fields, largest in the state, faced serious harm. Hot sun and recent drought, wilt, and blight cut tomato prospects.
