Tornado Forecast Center Seeks Better Warnings and Tools
The Storm Forecast Center in Kansas City operates radar, teletype data, and a 250 mile screening radar to predict tornadoes. Forecasters expect a computer to cut analysis time from hours to minutes though final judgment remains with experienced meteorologists.
